Using This Tool: Guide & Notes Show guide
Base58 turns bytes into copy-friendly text, while Base58Check adds a version byte and checksum for error detection.
How to use it
- Choose Encode to turn text or hex bytes into Base58, or Decode to inspect an existing Base58 string.
- Select Base58 for plain encoding or Base58Check when you need version and checksum handling.
- Use text input for normal messages, or hex input when you want exact byte values.
- Check the decoded structure panel to inspect version, payload length, leading zero bytes, and checksum data.
Options and settings
- Base58Check uses a one-byte version marker before the payload.
- The checksum is calculated from the version byte and payload, then appended before Base58 encoding.
- Ignore whitespace helps decode wrapped, spaced, or pasted Base58 strings.
- Use output as input moves an encoded result into decode mode for quick round-trip checks.
Notes
- Base58 and Base58Check are encoding, not encryption. They do not hide data.
- Do not paste real private keys, wallet seeds, recovery phrases, or sensitive financial data into ordinary online tools.
